How to Read the LSAG Newsletter

This message is to assist members in reading the newsletter.  The newsletter & the blog are the same thing.  The newsletter that you get in your email box each week on Tuesday is a page with a series of brief articles in a blogged format.  That email has to be clicked on in some way for you to get all of the information on any given article.  You will NOT get all of the info by looking strictly at the email alone.

Please note:  This is an explanatory post & includes some events that may have passed to  help you see HOW to read the post---NOT as information.  Please see the current newsletter for the most updated info.

To read the entire newsletter IN FULL, click on the link VISIT LSAG'S BLOG which will be on the upper right side of the email.  Once you click on that, you will see a watercolor abstract page.  If you don't, you are not on the blog main page.  You may have to click on Older Posts at the bottom to read the rest of that week's newsletter if it doesn't fit on one page.  Notice the publishing date to follow if an article is from that week or from a past week.

WHERE'S THE DATE?

Read the date of the event, the registration deadline date, or other important date information in the body of the post or the headline / title.  Do not mistake the publishing date under the title for a date relating to the event.  The best way to avoid confusion is to click on the event you are interested in & read it.

Reminders:

-Submissions must be sent to   lsagannouncements@gmail.com.  Emails sent to other addresses will likely NOT be received in time.

-The best posts are simple emails.  JPEGS---the only attachment we can use--are best for a photo to embellish the text in your email.  JPEG documents often come out fuzzy & unclear.

-Leagues should combine multiple announcements when possible.  Show announcements always are separate.

-ANYone can submit ANY ART related announcement.  YOU or someone in your league is responsible for re-posting.  We do not re-post.

-Your submission is NOT instantly posted; it must be PUBLISHED.  As such, allow at least a week's time when considering a posting.  We do not post events that have passed.

-The deadline each & every week is SUNDAY MIDNIGHT.  Publishing typically occurs on a Monday, & the newsletter is sent out on a Tuesday afternoon.

-Edit & check your post before sending.  Corrections / additions need to be RE-sent with the full text corrected &/or any details added.  While we will make some grammatical corrections, it is time dependent.

-In the subject line of your post email, give the important, updated info:  the league or organization, the event, the date.

Reminders: Posting Tips

Posting Tips:

-Your subject line is the title or headline of your post.
Do NOT put "Posting" or "Please re-post this" as your subject line.

INSTEAD:
1-Identify your group:
ABC Gallery, XYZ Art League

2-Identify your event:
Judged Show, Exhibit Opening, Call to Artists, New Classes

3-Identify your MOST IMMEDIATE DATE:
Deadline for Entry, Opening Reception, Beginning Date

So instead of "Please Post This",
your headline would be
ABC Gallery Exhibit Opening:  March 2
or
XYZ Art League Judged Show:  Register by February 28

-Avoid using the ampersand (the & sign) in your posts as they make posts messy.  If we don't have time to fix it, it will show on your post.

-Avoid overuse of the ellipsis (...) as they also mess up publishing your post & tend to push things to additional lines making your post not easily readable.

-Post at least a WEEK in advance of your event.
Events that are posted barely in time for when it takes place are not going to get the maximum attendance.

-Post by Sunday midnight for it to be included in the following Tuesday's newsletter.
If you wait until the last minute, & there is a problem with your post, you will not be contacted in time to make corrections.

-Posts should be reviewed & edited by you before sending.
If you send a post full of grammatical errors & spelling mistakes, it may appear that way on the newsletter if we do not have time to fix it.  Consider how you would write a letter to a friend.

-Simple posts with the basic info and a link to more details are the most widely read posts.  HINT!  HINT!
Make sure your links work & that the info you are promising is on a website IS really there.

-As always, re-posting is YOUR responsibility.
Post the same event once per week.
Combine posts for your organization together
(with the exception of judged shows)
so you don't hog the list.
Use netiquette, please.

-Posting on the blog/e-newsletter is a privilege of LSAG Member Leagues, but it is up to each to take advantage of this membership benefit.

We also offer Friends of LSAG the opportunity to share their opportunities with our membership at one post per week.
Multiple or duplicate posts from friends will be discarded.

-For more details on posting, visit the blog's main page & look under "How to Post & Posting Policies".

Where's My Announcement???

Don't see your announcement?
And your event is around the corner?
What gives?

Actually, you haven't given it to us to re-post it.

-Remember to re-post your announcements each week you wish them to be in the e-newsletter.
We are not able to re-post for nearly 20 leagues.

-Deadline for publishing is each Sunday at midnight for the following Tuesday's newsletter.

-The more you re-post, the more you advertise.
The more you advertise, the better attended your event will be.
