CAL: Featured Artist Golda Rader in January

Golda Rader is January Featured Artist at CAL

The Gallery will open the 2018 art season with a member show in January, featuring artist Golda Rader. The show opens January 3, 2018 and an Artist's Reception will be January 13 from 5-8 pm, in co-ordination with the Student Show Awards Ceremony.
Golda is the long-time treasurer for CAL and also serves in a different capacity on the Lone Star Art Guild board. As a Certified Decorative Painter with the National Society of Decorative Painters and a longtime Zentangle teacher, Rader promises to provide the Gallery with an exciting array of original work. Her work can be seen in the Smithsonian and Renwick Gallery in Washington DC and includes painting, mixed media, color pencil and Zentangle. She has taught at 24 national art conventions and has taught classes in nearly every state. Rader currently teaches at the Gallery, through the Conroe Art League (CAL), in mixed media and color pencil and has online classes serving national and international students.

Having won numerous awards throughout the years, including two "Best of Shows" in local juried competitions, Rader still contends that her greatest accomplishments have been when her students win competitions.

The Gallery at the Madeley, 127 Simonton, is home of the Conroe Art League, a nonprofit organization of vibrant artists and art lovers. The gallery is open from 10:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. on Tuesdays through Saturdays, open late until 8:00 on Fridays and for private events and tours. For more information about CAL or the Gallery contact 936-756-9572 or visit www.conroeartleague.com.

The Project: Two Institutions Meeting Through Art
For more than two centuries, the United States and France have stood united in the freedom owed to one another. The birth of democracy and the partnership between the two countries makes France the oldest ally of the United States.

Art is a language without borders; therefore, regardless of nationality, viewers will be able to explore, experience, and enjoy the exciting visual blend of artistic styles and media.

The French Alliance (Alliance Française de Houston) was founded in 1923 and is the center of French language and culture in Houston. The Alliance Française de Houston, part of a worldwide network founded in Paris in 1883, is a privately funded 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.  Today there are over 800 Alliances in 132 countries. The U.S. network of Alliances Françaises is the largest in the world with 107 Alliances, 73 of which offer French classes based on the standards of the Alliance Française de Paris. In 2015, the U.S. Alliance network had over 24,000 students for a total of 500,000 worldwide.

The Alliance Française de Houston offers not only comprehensive language instruction in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, but also a varied and dynamic cultural experience. Members enjoy French art and photography exhibits, receptions and concerts, and have access to their library, as well as discounts on their French language classes.  Each year, the Alliance awards scholarships for study in France to Houston-area university students.  They are affiliated with the Alliance Française de Paris, the Foundation Alliance Française, the Federation of Alliance Françaises USA and the US Délégation Générale.
