Vie Dunn-Harr: Painting in Italy Sept. 5-12 / Claim Your Spot Soon
Painting in Italy 2018 September 5-12
SPEND 7 UNFORGETTABLE DAYS EXPLORING – ENCOUNTERING –PORTRAYING
"The possibilities are infinite when a group of creative souls come together."
Citta della Pieve is a charming medieval village, situated in a panoramic position, located in the Umbrian Region on the border of Tuscany.
Painting in Italy will be lead by Painter Vie Dunn-Harr. Every style and approach welcomed. Although, there will be instruction in technique, color, and design for those interested, the focus of this workshop will not be on painting a particular way as much as one's perception, creative expression, and the unique voice of each artist. We will strive to discover the path which leads to the next plateau in our journey as artists.
We will work plein air and in the studio. No oils please, Vie is allergic. Our studio space is housed in the Oratory of San Bartolomeo, built around 1326. Within the studio space is the Gothic fresco "Sorrow of the Angels" painted by Jacopo Mino del Pellicciaio of the Sienese School of thought.
Exploring and creating are lovely companions, as are artists and Italy.
For pricing, photos, and more information go to: http://www.viedunn-harr.com/ Painting-in-Italy-2018.html or e-mail Vie at: vie@dunn-harrstudios.com

Suzie Baker
|
Bringing It All Together will kick off with a lecture and demo. Students receive instruction on principles of painting ranging from color, value, composition, color theory and so much more. Every day, you will apply what is being taught by getting outside to paint; seeing, recording and observing nature as it changes. Suzie will demo on location and offer one-on-one instruction to all the students while they paint.
Suzie's personal goal is to identify every student's level and provide strategies to progress, through group instruction, example, and individual interaction. Her humorous, informative manner makes tackling this multi-faceted challenge a fun and rewarding experience.

Testimonials:
"Not only is Suzie an accomplished Plein Air painter, AND portrait artist, but she is one of the nicest people you'll meet. When having a conversation with her, you get the feeling that she's really listening. She'll offer you good and constructive advice, and throw in a couple of
favors as well! In the short time that I've known her, she's bent over backward for me. She's a kind, "giving", artist."
Marjorie Hicks
Wow! I learned so much and am ready to go to the next level by way of improved value in my paintings. Suzie was well organized, presented the material in a clear manner and was patient with all the questions I'm sure she's answered hundreds of times. I definitely recommend her to others!"

Carla's work combines her love of architectural detail and attention to qualities of light that transform commonplace scenes. The result is a body of works that read like snapshots….people going about their daily life, oblivious to us looking on, and their story is allowed to unfold.
Born and educated in Canada, Carla Gauthier has lived and worked in the U.S. and Europe, and now resides in Houston, Texas where she continues to paint and teach. While earning her BA in Fine Art and Art History, and her Bachelor of Education, she continued to paint in watercolors and oils. An education in traditional drawing and printmaking provided her a solid base in image making.
Carla is a signature member of the prestigious National Watercolor Society, the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour and an Elite member of the Watercolor Art Society – Houston. She has shown with these and other organizations in their regional, national and international shows, and has paintings in collections throughout Canada, the United States and Europe.

CAL: Anne Byrd in March
This popular workshop is almost full but a couple of spaces are left.
Anne Byrd
Colored Pencil and Wax Pastel
![]() |
Enhance your colored pencil skills or explore a new drawing medium with this hands-on workshop. Students will learn various techniques in colored pencil and wax pastel as they complete a small piece over the course of three days.
Anne has been making art in one form or another since before she can remember. She has tried various mediums, but always finds her way back to drawing and painting. It makes sense, considering she fell in love with drawing first. Anne's subject matter is where she tends to let go a bit. She revels in displaying objects or scenarios that really shouldn't exist together, but somehow complete one another. Soft and hard, sweet and terrifying, innocent and tarnished. Images that borderline on the uncomfortable, but still feel cohesive and unified. Her pieces tell a story, but not the whole story. They are windows into certain glimpses in a narrative that is already in play. Visions of things you catch out of the corner of your eye, but cannot be sure are real or merely ghosts of your imagination. annebyrdart.com
