January is National Tea Month and the Art League of Baytown will be celebrating with several exciting events that will warm your soul like a nice cup of hot tea.
The Art League of Baytown is honored to be partnering with the Clay Arts Museum and Educational Organization (CAMEO) to provide the venue for the 12th Annual Texas Teapot Tournament (TTT). We are planning a High Tea Event, The Tea Affair, as a fundraiser for the many great programs that our organization sponsors. We are also planning "Art and Afternoon Tea and Victorian Fashion Show". And since the Teapot Tournament is a competition of clay teapots, we are partnering with the Lee College Ceramics Department to present a Clay Teapot Workshop with noted Texas potter, Stan Irvin.
Each year at the Texas Teapot Tournament (TTT), two teapots are chosen for cash awards - The Purchase Award is $1,000; the Memorial Award is $500. Honorable Mention ribbons may also be awarded. This year V. Chin is the juror. The TTT teapots will be on exhibit at the Art League of Baytown from January 5 - 30, 2019. Stan Irvin Clay Workshop
Noted Texas Potter, Stan Irvin, will conduct a clay teapot workshop during our month-long "Culture of Tea" event, beginning with the 12th Annual Texas Teapot Tournament
January 26th and 27th, 2019
Venue: Lee College Ceramics Studio, 700 block of Texas Avenue, Baytown, Texas
Cost: $120 includes all materials and tools plus lunch on both days. Limited to 20 participants. As of November 20th, we have one spot left for the workshop. We will be starting a waiting list. Fees will be refunded only if someone takes your spot.
