The Art League of Baytown will hold its monthly meeting on October 21st at 2pm. The meeting is open to the public and will feature an origami demo by incredible paper artist Joan Son (www.joanson.com).
Joan said that this will be a hands on demo where we will actually get to fold an origami piece ourselves. So much fun. Please join us.
Also please come see Joan's work that is included in our current Collectors' Exhibit (featuring Clay and Paper)
September 22 - October 20
Since 2014, Art League of Baytown has partnered with CAMEO, the Clay Arts Museum and Educational Organization, to host a Collector's Show. It was planned as a five year series of annual exhibits, demonstrating the credibility of art as an investment. Each exhibit pairs the fine craft of clay art with another three dimensional medium. This year will be Clay and Paper.
We will have prints, origami by Houston paper artist, Joan Son, paper mache' by Billie Brinkley, handbound rare books, photographs, and watercolors. CAMEO's permanent clay teapot collection will also be on exhibit which is comprised of the Purchase Award and Memorial Award teapots from the Texas Teapot Tournament. There are also a few that have been donated and which are the creations of noted American and British potters.
The exhibit will also include the impressive work of Josef Albers, a renowned German-born American artist who came into popularity during the Bauhaus era, following which he became widely known. Prints of his work will be on display.
