CAL: Still Time to Participate in Christmas is for Giving

LSAG Congratulates the Artists of CAL on their Spirit of Giving to the Community!  Below is the article they shared on their recent event.

The Conroe Art league got into the spirit of Christmas in December by hosting the first "Christmas is for Giving" show at their gallery. The show took on a "walls and smalls" approach with new originals from their members on the walls and "smalls" down the center of the East and West gallery hung on grids. The smalls were limited to pieces 16" x 20" or smaller priced at $125 or less and were promoted as "affordable art".
CAL worked in conjunction with Homestead House Furniture in Conroe who has spearheaded Toyz4Kidz campaign with The Salvation Army for the past several years. Unlike other holiday toy drives, the Toyz4Kidz campaign raises money to purchase the "A List" toys that every kid wants as opposed to having new, unwrapped toys thrown in collection boxes. Homestead House matched the donations of their furniture buyers while the gallery donated their 20% commission to the cause for all sales in the month of December.

At last count the campaign had delivered 75 brand new bikes for all ages, three truckloads of toys and even toiletries and cosmetics for the "tweens" of the recipient families.
The affordable art was especially successful generating record sales numbers and the grids were restocked several times through the month as the art sold.

This new show created multi-faceted benefits for all: Patrons could give a unique piece of art as a gift while giving to the Toyz4Kidz campaign through the 20% gallery donation. In addition, CAL artists were able to sell some of the "inventory" that every artist has at home… in the closet and under the bed… while giving to a good cause.
