WAL: Workshops and Market St. Show This Month

Market St Art Show - May 6th

Join us in our booth for demos and activities, information and friendship. Look for the large booth in Central Park in front of Jasper's. Come paint a rock to leave as a gift to a stranger or pick up an Art Abandonment tag to leave with a piece of your work in a public place for a stranger to find! Bring paints or drawing materials and work with us, or watch others display their methods. To volunteer to work in the booth, help with the kids' project, or with questions on demos email me atlp313combs54@hotmail.com.

Vendor booths will line both sides of the park from 10 am to 7 pm, and all shops and restaurants will be open their usual hours.

Encaustic Wax and Paper: a One-day Workshop to Get You Started

Wax loves paper! Using encaustic wax with handmade papers or watercolor paper can give your work a natural and"organic" look that goes well with beeswax and resin.

In this one day workshop we will explore ways to use paper with the wax. Mount heavy watercolor paper on a surface as a substrate, collage with Japanese paper, or create texture with tissue paper and tea bags. Use pre-colored waxes or make your own with pigments or oil paint. This workshop will give you enough general understanding of encaustic techniques for you to join the Woodlands Encaustic Artists Group.

Thursday, May 18th from 10 am to 4 PM, with a break for lunch, at Studio in the Woods, 26002 Budde Rd,77380

$160, all supplies and equipment use included. $50 deposit to hold seat due by May 12th so supplies can be purchased.
