LSAG: Welcome Polly Ward, President of LSAG 2016-17

Meet Polly Ward, New President of LSAG

Polly was born and raised in Sarasota, Florida to parents who were both artists. Her mother attended the Cochran School of Art in Washington, D.C., and studied Fine Art. Her father was a self-employed commercial artist whose billboards caught the eyes of travelers from Florida to Virginia in the 1950's, 60's and 70's.

Polly's work experience began with the Sarasota Herald Tribune in the Display Advertising Department and later as an advertising executive for Montgomery Ward. However, after moving to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1977, her interest in the early growth of computers and computer science enabled her to explore ground floor opportunities that sustained a life-long career. She worked for Saga Food Service at their corporate headquarters in Menlo Park for many years before accepting a job at a major Silicone Valley law firm whose specialty was dot com startups. It was there that she was able to understand how changing trends influenced what became popular and what became passé, an observation that carried over into many other facets of her life.

She retired in 2005 when she married her husband, Richard Ward, and moved to Houston. It was then that she was able to reunite with her passion for art and has enjoyed experimenting with multiple mediums ever since. She is currently a member of the North West Art League and the League's First Vice President and Show Chairman.  Polly developed from her business experience both great organizational skills and dynamic people skills.  Her success as the North West Art League Show Chair reflects these attributes along with her insight into how to problem solve and foresee ways to be proactive.  She is a true leader & will be an asset to the LSAG Board.

Welcome, Polly!
