Julie Clifton will bedazzle Sean Anthony Salons in September

Sweet irony is knowing your art made of cake and frosting will be devoured by frantic partygoers.
For the 42 years Julie made cakes, this was her reality. Though she loved delighting her clients, the short life span of her creations left only pictures and memories.
When Julie found herself with free time the art poured from her fingers like water. First, the layered photo collages showed her unique vision. Next, the intricately layered pen and ink in black and white revealing the depth of her natural talent.  Now, Julie is exploring collage art using repurposed jewelry, silk and velvet. With her heart and mind she shows us how these luxurious girly things can continue to delight.  It's impossible to absorb every detail of Julies collages on the first viewing.  Her expert use of space and movement dazzles. The twists and folds of the fabrics cause light to dance and shimmer on their surface. Julie has juxtaposed the jewelry and finery of old into the millennial art of NOW. She's given these discarded items a new life and a new story.  In return,  they have given her a new purpose and passion

Julie will be the featured artist at Sean Anthony Salons, 3300 Chimney Rock, Houston, Sept. 9 - Oct. 14

There will be an artists reception on Sept. 14, 7-9PM. The public is invited to come meet Julie.

Original Artwork by Suzanne Buckland
A Note from Suzanne

I have been very honored to be part of the Houston Visual Art Community for over 15 years and to have participated and curated in many wonderful exhibitions throughout our great city. I'm always seeking new opportunities for local artists to get their art out before the public eye and show off their talents. I've always been an advocate of group art exhibitions in public and commercial spaces, taking art out to the people. I hope you can attend the receptions and patronize the businesses who assist the artists by showing and selling their artwork.

Due to a recent illness, I have had to suspend my work as an art instructor. As a result, my family has had some pretty tough times. We are asking for your support through our GoFundMe page. https://www.gofundme.com/f/k43c4a-funds-for-healing?utm_source=customer&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_campaign=p_cp+share-sheet Thank you for your support.
