HeArt for Freedom 2018
I very much believe we should all do everything we can to end human bondage once and for all. Every person should be sovereign and free, not owned by another. Slavery comes in all types but in this case it is called human trafficking. Let's just end this. There is no excuse.
I, Suzanne Buckland, have donated this large oil painting to this cause. This is 36" X 48", entitled Rainbow Iris. One of my favorite pieces from my Irises Collection. I originally found this photo-shopped picture on Flickr and contacted the owner. He was delighted that I loved it so much I wanted to make this extra large painting. Of course he gave me permission to use it for a model. Irises are one of my favorite flowers. My Aunt Dorothy, who was such an inspiration to me grew irises and of course, my favorite artist Vincent painted many.
HeArt for Freedom is a one day art auction.
This fine art exhibit and auction is a one-day event where art connoisseurs and socially minded individuals can purchase world-class pieces and support an excellent cause. All purchases will benefit Free the Captives-an organization that combats the sex trafficking of minors in Houston. Small Works at St. Luke's Methodist Church, Rotunda Gallery
September 5 - September 30
The Rotunda Gallery located within St. Luke's UMC, 3471 Westheimer, Houston, TX 77027 in River Oaks, presents "Small Works". This is an art exhibition and sale dedicated to artwork less than 24" sq. Classic miniatures to modern abstract, you will find it all from some of Houston's finest artists. This exhibition and sale is to benefit the art program at St. Luke's.

Oct. 8 - Nov. 12, 2018, Master Scroll Saw Artists Rick Spacek will have a solo exhibition at Sean Anthony Salons, 3300 Chimney Rock, Houston. Rick is a native Texan, father and grandfather, and loves nothing more than the smell of wood. The Challenge and beauty of wood has kept him intrigued with scroll saw art for the last 9 years, spending every day on his garage workshop. His pieces range from large to small, free standing sculpture, wall art, and even clocks. All are intricately carved with one of a kind designs. You can't miss this exhibition. Rick will be on hand during the artists reception, Friday, Oct. 12, 7-9PM. Stop by after work for refreshments and to have Rick tell you all about his technique in creating his fabulous art. Mark your calendars for a teen acrylic painting workshop on Thursday, October 11 at 4:30pm at Maud Smith Marks Library, 1815 Westgreen Blvd., Katy, TX, 77450. Acrylic's instructor, Suzanne Buckland will be conducting this workshop for beginner artists, ages 12-18. This is a workshop for all skill levels. Students will complete a 9" X 12" acrylic painting.
