SKB: September Workshop in Wyoming

Get Ready
First of all... it's Magnificent
Set in Wyoming's majestic high country, just east of Yellowstone National Park and the Grand Teton Valley, the SKB Rendezvous & Workshop takes place in one of the most artistically stimulating and inspirational landscapes in North America.
Registration Day
The fun begins as soon as you arrive in Dubois, Wyoming... check into your accommodations... and come over to the Headwaters Art & Conference Center to register.

Welcome Event
The very first evening is a big get together where Pam Cable, Executive Director, introduces the instructors, SKB Board Members, and other special guests, outlining the workshop week ahead.
The Food
Did we mention the food?
On this first night you will discover a wonderful feature of SKB Workshops... the Food! Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner are all held in this same facility. And meals become valuable times to strike up new friendships or rekindle old ones. And all over an excellent meal.
Kicking off the Workshop
This first evening's welcoming program is where Pam Cable sets the tone and mood for this whole wonderful week of artistic pursuits. It's going to be another fabulous week!
The First Morning's Breakfast - The excitement level kicks into high gear. Everyone's anxious to get started with the week's training & events. Announcements outlining the day's events will be made. After breakfast... the workshop begins!

The Class Photo - The first order of business right after breakfast is the large class photo taken outside Headwaters. This is when you begin to realize just how big this workshop is.
Workshop Training
Every year the SKB Workshop has a selection of Featured Instructors, working in all major mediums during the week.
This year the Featured Instructors are Larry Wollam & Bruce Miller.
Larry Wollam - Watercolors - Pastels & Graphite
If Larry looks familiar to you it's because he has been part of the SKB Workshop for many years. This workshop week you can work with Larry in Watercolor. He can also help you in a variety of additional mediums.
Bruce Miller
Oils & Acrylics
During this workshop week, Bruce will work with you on your skills in Oils & Acrylics.
This special week is designed to help artists really focus on their painting skills.
Making Choices -
Artists attending the workshop can choose to spend the whole week working with just one of our Featured Instructors for the whole week… or split their week among the instructors.

This flexibility also allows artists to get expert instruction in more than one medium or take full advantage of the many other informal gatherings, demos, or special programs that come up during the week with the various Returning Instructors and other Special Guest Instructors.
Returning Instructors - Every year a large group of previous instructors return to Dubois for this workshop. They have no formal duties. However, they offer a wide range of expertise to share with you. These include personal demos, discussions, plein air outings, and evening talks. In this way, artists attending this workshop can actually develop working relationships with a whole group of professional award-winning artists.
Plein Air at SKB - If in fact you've come to this workshop with hopes of getting some help with your Plein Air Painting skills... you're in luck. This workshop is one of the few workshops in the country that actually trains artists in the skills needed to paint outdoors.
Additional Programming
Throughout the week, during the day and after dinner in the evening, there are a wide assortment of Special Programs artists can choose to attend. These programs are conducted by the various Returning Instructors and cover a very wide range of interests all of which are related to the needs & skills of artists.
Daily Demos
by some of the
top artists / instructors in the country.
Discussion Groups on a wide range of artistic topics
In-Depth Presentations covering all manner of Marketing, Media, Websites, and Motivation.
SKB Workshop "Small Works" Exhibition Another very unique feature is the special exhibition consisting of the works created by the artists attending the workshop. This exhibition is displayed on the 2nd floor gallery in the Headwaters Arts & Conference Center throughout the week. Once hung; our professional instructors then jury this exhibition. And we then have a whole Special Awards Presentation Program after dinner.
Artists attending the workshop receive awards

Instructors' Quick Finish Event - The highlight of the week! Featured Instructors and Returning Instructors participate in a group "Paint Off". This is a very popular feature of the workshop that let's everyone watch as these talented professionals create master works. Then... in the evening these fabulous works of art are auctioned off to benefit the various educational programs supported by SKB.
High School Students - Every year the SKB Foundation sponsors a large group of young artists from its various educational programs. The idea is to bring them out to Wyoming so that they can participate right along with the adult artists. In this way SKB hopes to inspire and cultivate both the skills and enthusiasm of younger artists.
Dubois School Mentoring Program - One day during the workshop week SKB artists volunteer to mentor a student from the local school. Over the years, this mentoring program has elevated the artistic talent of these young people and helped produce many award winning art students at the state and federal level.
Dedicated Plein Air Painters - If you are in fact an avid plein air painter wanting to max out the day... you can find a welcome group of fellow painters ready & willing to venture out to catch the rising sun.

See you soon!

This is going to be another great workshop. So pack your gear and come on out to Wyoming!
