You will need to bring a favorite photos for inspiration (Liz will have some) but your painting will be more meaningful if you depict places that you know and love!
Bring any watermedia you may have (watercolor, acrylic, watercolor or water soluble crayons, watercolor pencils). We will probably use all of it. Liz will bring collage papers, if you have any you like, bring it. You will need matt gel for gluing. You may work on 1/ 2 sheets of watercolor paper - (approx 11X15) or canvas close to that size. Larger sizes allowed but may be more difficult for beginners to work with. Watercolor paper will be available for Some prefer larger, which is fine, but more difficult to deal with. Liz will bring hotpress watercolor paper for $5 a sheet if you need some.

In the wake of Harvey our community worked together to aid neighbors and strangers who were victims of the floods. To commemorate and honor those who did so, and those who continue on, WAL is inviting artists, non-profits, and the public to help create a Singing Tree mural. This large work will join 52 others around the world in an ever growing Singing Tree Forest, the brainchild of artist Laurie Marshall, celebrating the human spirit of meeting challenges and over-coming devastation. Each work is unique to its community and concerns. Our working title is The Singing Tree of Compassionate Community. For information on how to join us or to become a sponsor please email me at lp313combs54@hotmail.com, and sign up for the Woodlands Art League newsletter at www.woodlandsartleague.org. You need not be a member or even an artist to participate!
